President Bola Tinubu has communicated the Senate seeking confirmation of appointees for the South-South Development Commission. Listed as appointees are nineteen persons for the North Central Development Commission, with Cosmas Akiyir as Chairman and Cyril Yeltsin as Managing Director. The South West Development Commission has eighteen appointees listing Senator Olubunmi Adetunbi and Dr. Charles Akinola as Chairman and Managing Director, in that order, while the South-South Development Commission has as appointed, eighteen persons with Chibudom Nwuche as Chairman and Usoro Offiong Akpabio as Managing Director/CEO. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has voiced out on their arrest of social critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM). They confirmed VDM’s detention to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, May 5, 2025. An Ogun State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ifo Local Government Area, has sentenced controversial street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, to three months in prison, with an option of a N30,000 fine. Portable was found guilty of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
