The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is inviting applications from qualified and interested candidates from the Niger Delta region for its 2026/2027 Local Post-Graduate Scholarship Programme for Master’s degree studies.

The scholarship programme is designed to promote human capital development by providing young people from the region with opportunities to acquire advanced knowledge, professional competencies and specialised skills to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.

The approved disciplines include Agricultural Sciences, Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geosciences, Humanities, Information Technology, Law, Management and Social Sciences, Medical Sciences, Education, and Biotechnology/Biomedical Science. Applicants must be indigenes of the Niger Delta, not older than 40 years, possess a relevant Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division, and have secured admission for a Master’s degree programme at a recognised Nigerian university. Applicants must also meet the Commission’s other eligibility requirements.

The selection process will involve online application, preliminary screening, a computer-based test (CBT), oral interviews and final verification of candidates’ credentials and indigene status. Applicants must score at least 70 per cent in the CBT to qualify for further consideration. The Commission also stated that preference would be given to qualified candidates from oil-producing host communities and Local Government Areas, provided they meet the approved cut-off mark and other requirements.

Interested applicants are advised to visit the official NDDC website, www.nddc.gov.ng, to complete and submit their applications online, along with the required supporting documents. Applications must be submitted on or before November 8, 2026. The Commission emphasised that the application process is free of charge and advised applicants to rely solely on official NDDC communication channels for information about the scholarship.
