The Federal Government has set aside the sum of One Hundred Billion Naira (N100b) to fund its ‘School Feeding Scheme’ for year 2024. The House of Representatives has introduced a bill to criminalise non-payment or failure to pay salaries by employers of labour and corporate bodies across the country. The bill titled “The Employees Remuneration Protection Bill 2023” which is sponsored by Wale Hammed, a member representing the Agege Federal Constituency, Lagos State seeks three to six months of imprisonment, without the possibility of a fine for any employer found guilty of failing to pay the salaries of their workers. A soldier has allegedly beaten to death a truck driver identified as Muhammad Bello for refusing to pay road bribe along Dikwa-Gamboru Ngala Road in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
