About one hundred and ten (110) elderly women within the ages of sixty five (65) through ninety five (95) have received a cash gifts of hundred thousand naira (N100,000) each, a bag of rice and combo packages for the yuletide.
These women, selected from Edo South Senatorial District were a set of beneficiaries of the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative Empowerment’ by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
So far, the Initiative has sent similar packages to beneficiaries in Oyo, Borno, Imo States and others.
Receiving this special gifts yesterday in Benin, Edo State capital, these elderly women first went for their vitals, health and eye checks, before proceeding to where they received their empowerment items.
Wife of Edo State Govebro, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki who was at the event informed that the initiative of Nigeria’s First Lady was beyond party lines as it touched the needs of the people, a gesture that necessitated her collaboration.
Edo governor’s wife stated that the senior citizens, who were mostly overlooked, were being remembered by the administration of President Bola Tinubu, which she described as a gesture she hoped would continue, particularly with the current economic situation of the country.
The beneficiaries mostly responded with prayers for the President, his wife and Nigeria.
