A serving governor in Nigeria was hospitalized yesterday evening, Sunday July 20, 2025 after being involved in a road accident.
The governor, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State who was returning from Daura along the Daura–Katsina Road, had gone to pay respects at the residence of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and receive condolences.
According to a statement from Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Governor Radda “sustained no serious injuries and remains in stable condition.”
As a precaution, the governor is undergoing routine medical evaluations at a facility in Daura under the care of attending medical professionals.
Despite initial social media reports causing concern, the swift clarification from the governor’s office assured the public of his well-being. “We appreciate the prayers and goodwill messages from Katsina residents and all well-wishers,” the statement read, “and we are grateful for the divine protection that safeguarded His Excellency during this incident.”
The Daura–Katsina Road, a vital corridor linking the state capital with the hometown of former President Buhari, has experienced a surge in official and political traffic in recent weeks.
