Amazon and other producers have been hit with a N10 billion law suit by the descendants of Isale Eko and the Oba of Lagos too, Oba Rilwan Akiolu has filed a petition against Amazon and other producers over the production of ‘Gangs of Lagos’ movie.
Both Oba and the Isale Eko Descendants Union (IDU) have described the movie as defamatory and sacrilegious for depicting the ‘Eyo’ as criminal gangs that commit grotesque murder and visit terror on innocent citizens, thus, inflicting huge reputational damage on the Eyo brand.
The petitioners have alleged that, on an international stage, potential tourists and visitors to Lagos were likely to question the authenticity of the Eyo as a true cultural heritage event deserving of respect and reverence.
They have equally demanded the producers submit within 14 days, a compensatory and a draft of an appropriately worded apology to the Oba of Lagos and indigenous people of Lagos.
